Chandana Jagath possesses a robust academic and professional foundation in accounting and finance. He is a passed finalist of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and holds several esteemed professional memberships, including:

  • Associate Member of the Professional Financial Managers (UK)

  • Fellow Member of the Institute of Commercial Industrial Accountants of Canada

  • Associate Member of the Certified Professional Managers of Sri Lanka

  • He has also completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Irish (UK), demonstrating his academic depth and commitment to continuous learning.

Lecture Profile


With over two decades of teaching experience since 2001, Mr. Jagath has served as a lecturer for a wide spectrum of professional and academic accounting programs. His lecturing roles span across prestigious institutions and professional bodies, including:

  • CA Sri Lanka, CMA Sri Lanka, and AAT Sri Lanka at foundation, intermediate, and final levels

  • ACCA (UK) and CIMA (UK) qualifications at corporate and strategic levels

  • IIHE – University of Wales and Salford (BSc Management Program – Year 2 and Year 3)

  • Thames College – Finance Module for Tourism and Hospitality

  • OnlineAccounting.lk and Inspiro Business School

He has also contributed as a visiting lecturer at the Cooperative Development Educational Institute and was a permanent lecturer at IAS from 2008 to 2019.


Lecturing Achievements


Chandana is well known for producing high-performing students, having mentored 21 prize winners at CA Sri Lanka examinations. Notably, he has contributed to producing all prize winners in Financial Reporting at both Diploma and Professional levels of CMA from 2002 to 2010.

His academic influence extends beyond the classroom through his involvement in authoring and compiling student self-study materials. He was a resource person for CA Sri Lanka (2010–2015 CAB II Financial Accounting curriculum) and AAT Sri Lanka (Level I Financial Accounting and Level III Financial Reporting curriculum).


Corporate Profile


Parallel to his academic work, Mr. Jagath has held a successful corporate career. He worked at Trendex Lanka (Pvt) Ltd from 2001 to 2010, ascending from Accountant to Group Financial Controller. His role involved comprehensive financial management, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. His corporate journey exemplifies hands-on leadership and practical financial expertise, which greatly enriches his teaching with industry-relevant insights.


Contribution to the Profession


Mr. Chandana Jagath has made lasting contributions to the accounting and finance profession in Sri Lanka. Beyond his teaching and writing, he has significantly influenced the professional education landscape by shaping curriculum content and supporting exam bodies in enhancing the quality of learning materials.

His dual expertise—corporate and academic—allows him to bridge the gap between theory and practice, making him a valuable mentor to aspiring professionals and a respected figure in the education and accounting communities.
