Academic & Professional Qualifications

Chaturanga is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ACA) and a holder of BSc. Engineer (Chemical and Process Engineering) at University of Moratuwa. He is also a passed Finalist of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK. He is also a Senior Member of Institute of Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (SAT) and a member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (ACMA). He possesses an MBA offered and directly monitored by University of Ballarat in Australia. At present he is reading for CIA exams at Institute of Internal Auditors.

Achievements

Chaturanga is a CA Prize Winner in Business Communication and AAT Prize Winner in Stage II overall 2nd in order of Merit (all island) and in stage III Business Communication. He has been elected as a Division Director in Toastmasters International District 82 (Sri Lanka) for 2020/21 and has been awarded as a President’s Distinguished Area Director in 2018/19 by Toastmasters International and a Star Area Director in the same year by District 82. Further, he had been an award-winning speaker in many speech contests conducted by Toastmasters International

Lecture Profile

Chaturanga has been a lecturer for students of many academic and professional examinations conducted in Sri Lanka at various institutes for over 17 years. Such professional examinations includes CA Sri Lanka, CIMA (UK), ACCA (UK), CMA, AAT (SL), BSc (external degrees) USJ and Government Accountancy. His expertise is Management Accounting and Business Mathematics but he had been a lecturer in financial accounting, Operations Research and Operations Management too.

In his lecturing career he has contributed a very high pass rate in almost every subject he taught and produced many Sri Lankan prize winners. His passion is to explain complex theories in the simplest form possible.

Corporate Profile

Chaturanga is the Senior Manager – Group Risk and Control at Brandix Apparel (Pvt) Ltd. and has over 18 years of experience in the fields of Finance and Auditing. His professional career started as an audit trainee

at Udaya Jayasekara & Company and Abeyratne & Company for over 4 years. He served as a manager at Ceylinco Business School for a short period before he joined People’s Leasing & Finance PLC where he served for over 13 years in the discipline of Internal Audit from Executive level to Senior Managerial level.

He is a trainer in communication and leadership in addition to his main profession Internal Audit.

Contribution to the Profession

Chaturanga has contributed to accountancy and auditing profession serving as a committee member in AAT Sri Lanka few years back. He has contributed the professional development of many audit trainees at People’s Leasing & Finance PLC and continues the same at Brandix Apparel (Pvt) Ltd., being the supervising member for numerous non-audit trainees who have excelled in completing their curriculum in his guidance and even have become qualified Chartered Accountants

In addition, he had served as a finance manager / treasurer at various professional bodies, societies, clubs and non-profit organizations where his expertise has contributed accurate preparation and presentation of financial statements and identifying correct tax liability. Further, he has been a consultant to a few private business firms in financial management and reporting.
