Academic & Professional Qualifications


Professor (Dr.) Ravi Dissanayake holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management specializing in Marketing Management from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He further advanced his academic credentials with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He holds two prestigious doctoral degrees: a PhD in Business from Taylor’s University, Malaysia, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Montreux Campus, Switzerland. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at Taylor’s University, Malaysia. Additionally, he holds the position of Director at the Staff Development Center, University of Kelaniya.


Lecture Profile


Professor Dissanayake is a senior academic attached to the Department of Marketing Management at the University of Kelaniya. He served as the Head of the Department from 2020 to 2023 and has been an integral part of the faculty’s academic development. He is known for his expertise in marketing management, branding, service marketing, and strategic business concepts. His teaching approach blends theory with real-world case study insights, providing students a comprehensive learning experience. He also contributes to curriculum development and postgraduate supervision, enriching academic standards both locally and internationally.


Lecturing Achievements


With an academic portfolio of over 120 research publications, including 14 in high-indexed international journals, Professor Dissanayake has consistently demonstrated excellence in scholarly output. He has received the “Most Outstanding Young Researcher” award on three occasions and the “Most Outstanding Senior Researcher” award twice from the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. In addition, he has been honored with four Senate awards for high-quality research publications. His service as a resource person at over 25 local and international research conferences and his involvement with five academic journals as an editorial board member further underscore his commitment to academic excellence.


Corporate Profile


In addition to his academic endeavors, Professor Dissanayake has an impressive corporate engagement profile. He has served as a trainer, consultant, and industry researcher for nearly 40 different organizations across various sectors. His corporate contributions span leadership training, branding consultancy, and strategic planning initiatives. He has also functioned as a visiting faculty member at seven universities and affiliated institutions, both locally and abroad, extending his academic influence into international education and industry interfaces.


Contribution to the Profession


Professor Dissanayake plays a pivotal role in advancing the profession of marketing and business education in Sri Lanka. As the Chief Editor of the Sri Lanka Journal of Marketing, he leads efforts to enhance the quality and visibility of local research. He has also contributed significantly to national development by serving on judging panels for youth innovation awards, advertising competitions, and digital business evaluations. His multidimensional involvement in academia, research, corporate training, and professional service positions him as a thought leader and mentor in the field.
