Nilani is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA) and a holder of BSc. Accountancy (special) degree from University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Lecture/Trainer Profile

Nilani is an accredited trainer for international auditing standards-based audit methodology and counts over 12 years of experience as a trainer attached to reputed international audit Firms.

Professional Practice Profile

Nilani is a Director-Assurance at EY Sriā€“Lanka. She is currently heading the Professional Practice Division of the Firm, which provides technical support to audit and assurance teams, ensuring their compliance with international and local accounting, auditing and quality assurance standards.Her carrier initiated as a trainee accountant at a middle tier audit firm & now counts over 20 years in practice, including 10 years of experience at PwC including Sri-Lanka, Australia & Malaysia offices of the Global Firm. In her 15 years of post -qualifying & managerial tenure multiple roles assumed by her range from Manager-Audit, Manager-Training & development, Manager- IFRS convergence, Senior Manager-Technical to Director- Professional Practice, exposing her to breadth and depth of audit, assurance and professional ethics.

Contribution to the Profession

She is also a regular presenter of Sri Lanka auditing and accounting standards to finance executives and audit practitioners at renowned training organizations including CA Sri Lanka and Center for Banking Studies. Working as a technical trainer; for the local implementation of SLSQC 1 for Small & Medium Practitioners and regional capacity building projects for SLAuSs for Non-SBEs are other noteworthy areas of her contribution towards enhancement of audit practice.

Nilani was also recently appointed as a member of Financial Reporting Interpretation and Implementation Committee of CA Sri-Lanka. As a part of her current role, she is extensively involved in researching into and implementation of recent developments in audit field such as key audit matters, digital audits and application of ISAs into Non-Complex entities.

She has served many educational initiatives of CA Sri Lanka including curricular revisions.
